After you have inserted the key into the switch, turn it on and don't do anything else before you read instructions given in the upcoming steps.
Unlike manual transmission vehicles that have three pedals, automatic vehicles only have two pedals. They have no clutch, so you only have the brake (center) and the accelerator (right). Press the center.
In an automatic transmission vehicle, most driving is done with the gearshift set to "D". You should switch gear to the first D position.
New driver should lift the foot pressing the brake slowly. Otherwise, your car will take off too fast and that is quite uncomfortable for your passengers and you.
Once the wheels have started to turn and you are confident, press the accelerator to speed up the car about 30km/hour.
Make sure you followed each step in order:
- Insert The Key Into The Ignition
- Press The Brake Pedal
- Switch The Gear To D
- Lift Your Foot From The Brake
- Press The Accelerator
Learning how to start a car with automatic transmission is easier than the one with a manual transmission. It will only be in the first few attempts that you will find these steps hard to remember. Repeating them regularly would make you perform them automatically.
